Send them the username too

Post by Wolfyx »

Hi, hope i`m not repeating any topic and hope that this is the right place to say it, but it would be really nice if u`d recieve u're username next to your password when u recieve the password link :) I say this coz many have asked if there is a way to find out their username if they know the password, the reason why they ask is "I forgot my username" :D

Solution: Write you username down when registering it :P
Solution2: Cservice should send the username with the password.

Ok, let's say you're registering the username "IAmALamer". And that's like the best username you can think of. You input a wrong email address and somebody else ends up with it. What then? Oh, I know, I know: email cservice, bitch and whine, get nothing out of it, say Undernet sucks, proceed to other lame actions.

Get the hint?

Draku, yeah thats a point of view, ok then, if not this, then maybe CService should make a "Forgotten Username" service :) where u can enter the ISP wich u registered with and wait till they send you a mail containing u're username without u're pass, so that if u enter a wrong ISP, the guy who recieves the e-mail instead of you, will not find out the pass to the specific username. That way, everyone`s happy  (my opinion) i know that it's too much bother, and UNnecessary use of resources, but it could be a helpfull service :devious:

This is correct, we did NOT have username registration on Undernet 5 years ago.

Please do not mislead people here, LordChris !
And you are a #CService trainee? Learn your Undernet history, and be honest, you are making #CService look bad.

Hello,

Personally, I can only see that this thread affects people who register MORE than one username, which is against the Channel Service Acceptable Use Policy.

As we are only meant to register ONE username, I don't see how you could easily forget it.

Kind Regards,

After all an username can only contain letters and numbers....how hard can it be to remember them? We can remember the password to our usernames, which in Chris`s case is secured because he is a cs official(cs representatives admins and oper have a secured password, duno if Chris is a representative yet) and has to have at leat 6 characters and to contain at least one capital letter, one number, one letter and another character) and we can`t remember the username which is more easyer to store in our memory? Seems hard to believe....
