Well, the best server for a user is the closest one to him, geographically speaking. So the best one for a user placed in London should be either london.*, or london2.* etc. The opers? As long as they're do their job and have time to talk to users from time to time, guess they're ok.

There is no best server ! Maybe Undernet Network is the best ..... :devious: . Users connect to the near server from their country ! That is the best server ! Until then Undernet Network is the best because links all servers :devil:

All servers are linked, indeed, but when you choose irc.undernet.org you don't always enter the closest server. This is because of DNS, and dns ain't smart enough to provide you with the closest server, but a random one.
(Unless you would setup a fake dns server wich acts as smart user load balancer. (Another idea I'm thinking about... another time about it))

In think undernet dosen`t have "THE BEST SERVER OF THEM " . In undernet all servers are pretty good , and the servers are used by users on their preference influenced maybe by the maxchannels they can join on it , which server works better for them etc . Undernet haves about 17 servers if i`m right , like lemuel sayd you can find them on http://www.undernet.org/servers.php and choose one from there by your preference :)

And btw : all users haves their favorite server , and my opinion is that oslo.no.eu.undernet.org is good enough to satisfy my requests :devil:

Greetings!

When we talk about stable servers and without getting splits for weeks I prefer staying on Diemen.NL.EU.UnderNet.Org for almost 2 weeks now didn't encounter any split. :wink:

You can find that about by using the /lusers command, but of course not all are leaf servers (on which clients connect to), for a list of those try visiting http://www.undernet.org/servers.php

My favorite will always remain NewBrunswick. I miss its opers too... Really great guys, hat off to them, wherever they might be these days.

I'll vote for Diemen.nl.eu.undernet.org. It's the best I've seen since I'm on Undernet. Stability is the thing that really matters, especially if you use a bouncer. In fact, most users complain these days about loosing their channels in netsplits.

P.S: It's not important who are opers.
