Yes that is true, I tried myself from different nicks and all, I managed right now to connect to fairfax.va.us.undernet.org and to ede.nl.eu.undernet.org but both empty.. is this the end of undernet as we know it ? :)

Yep, same happened to me. Just in case, run KAV and NAV, nothing.

Also - avoid The Cleaner from http://www.moosoft.com. I don't know how good it is with real trojans, but it found all my nephews RapidQ programs (he wants to learn to program) as trojans - and I can guarantee that they are not.

Most likely, a new (idiot) IRCop or someone had account hacked. Or it is an advertising campain for that Moosoft thingie.

I came here looking for the same thing. I'm clean, I don't have spyware or trojans on my computer, I hope this get fixed soon, I cannot connect to any server .

EDIT: it seems that is working again :D

Some says BUG, some says human mistake, we don't know, yet.
Maybe there will be an official explanation...

But it has been sorted out...

The network is back to normal. The mistake has been fixed, you were accidently g-lined, nothing to worry about, please continue to chat.

Do yourselves a favour, see a movie or read a book until it all calms down :)

As far as i and some of my friends figured it out....some service that was ment to clean the undernet from infected users led to a global gline meaning that all the users of undernet were gline (yes including ircops).
Servers splitted and untill the gline was removed from the gnuworld database and the servers were resynch no-one could join undernet.

There were specialk cases when servers splitted from the service serves making the gline inactive. So few users could connect to one or two servers.

The problem seems to be fixed now and pray to go it won`t happen again.
Correct me if i`m wrong in any way.

A typo and a bug in the service caused the glines. That's what an Undernet Admin said to Junkie. GG.

A little typo in a GLine caused major effects on the Undernet network today.

The result of the typo was that the entire network got GLined with the reason set for the user the GLine was meant for: infected! Advertising infecting web sites. Clean this computer! http://www.moosoft.com http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ )

As a result of the events the entire network fell apart, and servers had to be reconnected one-by-one. On the IRC statistics website NetSplit.de Undernet dissapeared completely from the Top 25 list, where it normally can be found in the top 3.

The error was a combination of a cut&paste error and a never before seen bug in the services an Undernet admin told IRC-Junkie in a reaction.

Maybe one good thing came out of this however, as many people might have checked their computers for malware!

Why the cut & paste then. Rofl.

Everyone fell into the MOAT (Mother Of All Typos) and almost drowned. I'm glad we all survived... A little shaken, but ok. The silver lining that possibly many people checked their PC's for the first time makes me think this should happen more often.

Before linking the server back to the hub and services, even though the gline had been deleted from euworld`s database, servers needed a restart in order to "forget" the gline, otherwise it would have been active again.

It was like a new beginning for undernet let`s hope for a better one.

I`d like to thank and cogratulate all the volunteers that put alot of effort in re-establising order on undernet. Trust me i`ve never seen channel that help with modes so crowded....

Yeah I was G-lined from Amsterdam2 server. But I could rejoin soon on the Oslo server, who was probably lost in a split, or Oslo was the first one who restarted :)
