FORUM SPAMMERS

Post by truenitos »

Hey what about the forum spammers at these days ? i saw in everybody forum link lots of guys posting PORN URLS and I think most of them are virus or sh*ts to load drones on IRC, I think they need to be banned and the posts deleted... :S what about it ?

The posts are being deleted. Most of them are in General/IRC help and being handled by Eenie. The rest are either in Channel Service or Forum Support, and I'm deleting them on sight.

There's an internal issue opened about the spam. It was more at the beginning, but I convinced Simba to install a certain MOD and the spam was reduced by 85%.

However, there are a lot of users registered that are spambots. Someone *up there* should clean them up. :P

well it's been a while since i last got here, but when i went to check the spam in the General/IRC Help section, it was already quite huge... What's up with that, isn't phpBB working on it to stop having spammers registering to the site?

I'm sure there is an option to upgrade or to even make signing up difficult for spambots.

I check the forum at least 5 times a day, every day, and delete spam as fast as I can. (Usually 2-10 spams each time) As you suggest, deleting is not the answer. Preventing the spam is what we should be doing.

Well, actually, OzzY, TopCat, and sirAndrew are responsible for deleting spam from this particular section. I delete them when I see them in every section but this one, since there are active mods in this section to take care of it.

And since I last posted, spam has increased dramatically on the forum. I delete at least 50 spams from my section alone every day! That does not count the spam posts I delete from other sections!

We REALLY need the webmasters to install spam filters!

And, Em3r1c4 .. I see you posting in response to the spam posts! Why are you wasting your time doing that? Just ignore them and wait for them to be deleted, please.

Thanks,
Eenie
