Well, scientists never did proove smoking is bad, or did they? Large tabacco companies may have ordered some tests on the effect it has on health. Secondly, smoking (cigarettes) is by no means a drug, Windu. Cigarettes just raise your organism's blood pressure. That means, that if you don't smoke for approximately 12 hours after you smoked the last time, your organism will ask for a new smoke. If you don't give it to him, then in about two hours it'll not ask for a new one, seeing that the blood pressure will drop at the initial level. That is for people that smoke rarely and very little. For experienced smokers, one would have to be well determined to quit. Furthermore, smoking is not a drug because NOT the brain asks for it, the body does, so it can keep the blood pressure at it's current level. I've been smoking for some years now and have sticked to lights cigarettes and Puerto Rican cigars, once in a while.

rebel:

Nicotine is one of the most heavily used addictive drugs in the United States. Cigarette smoking has been the most popular method of taking nicotine since the beginning of the 20th century.

In 1989, the U.S. Surgeon General issued a report that concluded that cigarettes and other forms of tobacco, such as cigars, pipe tobacco, and chewing tobacco, are addictive and that nicotine is the drug in tobacco that causes addiction. In addition, the report determined that smoking was a major cause of stroke and the third leading cause of death in the United States.

Eenie, We're obviously not sharing the same brand of cigarettes. I did hope the info I myself received from a doctor and Psychologist in the field would be more than conclusive.

I highly recommend that you get a new doctor and psychologist, preferably ones living on this planet!

Cigarettes are hazardous to your health. It has been proven time after time, rebel. I cannot understand who the **** would tell you otherwise? First and forth, it damages your lounges. Real bad. Looks like a phreakin' mess down there.

It also helps you gain a really nice breath (irony?), and leaves that cute yellow "stuff" on top of your otherwise nasty white teeth.

Not satisfied yet?

It makes you addictive. It truly does. And does cigarettes taste any good? Take a few REALLY long inhales with short interwals and see if it does. It tastes hideous to me. No one can convince me otherwise. I'd much rather perfer that nice cold beer.

What else does it do to your health? Let's see... Yes, as Eenie said, it can give you strokes. And it also raises the blood pressure, as you said yourself, rebel.

Now let's try to look at some positive sides before we go deeper down inside the negative ones. Oh... Wait... Are there any positive sides? No, I didn't think so.

Going into some advertising.. I used to smoke BlackStone Cherry.. they tasted reallllllly sweet. It was made of the same tabac used for pipes...it was a lot heavier . 1 blackstone = 5 marlboro 100 red (my other favorite brand)
They were like let's see.. in euros.. 5 euros... and a Marlboro is 1.5 so...they were more expensive... But like any other cigar it was "hazardous" ... just wanted to point out that they taste and smell good :)

Well, those menthol cigarettes taste and smell good to, but that's cheating. :P

Unlike IRC, this is a "moderated" environment. Please, behave accordingly and post topics that make sense to avoid any eventual disappointments when you see your posts deleted :)

Kind regards

Still this a place where ppl express their oppinion in a free fashion. They shouldn't be in constant fear that their msg could be deleted if they don't please one of the moderators (see kid's case)
I agree that there should be rules , that should be strictly applied.. (those of comon sence and others)
But I don't see the relevance of ur post.. :) .. u deleted a thread from this topic?
