Post by undermaster »

hello again,

by clicking on Memberlist you will have a list of all members registered in this forum, if you start checking, you will get:

==============================================

| # | points | PM | Username | Email | Location | Joined | Posts | Website

# : the number of registered user.

points : you will get a button of PM (which must be points played in the casino, or on posting).

PM : you will get the button of usename ( which must be the button of PM).

Username : you will get the user mail (which must be the button of username).

Email : the same thing.....

Location : The same thing.......

Joined : the same thing.......

Posts : the same thing........

Website : The same thing.......

==============================================

another suggestion/idea : How about to remove users which registered in 2002/2003/2004 and never joined ( which you will find 0 joined after 6 years for non-joining)....so why they're registered then!!!...or why not to make an expire date for non-joining users (for example : 1 year for non-joiniong and the username expires)....

suggestions & more suggestions

*Thank you*

Joined indicates the exact date when that username has been registered, but it doesn't say anything about when it was last seen logged in on the forum, unless he's just browsing the forum authed with his undernet forums. it's being displayed above undernet forums forum link

We already know about the buttons and that they need to be fix ( the memberlist ) It`s an old problem cause by installing cash mod required for the points sistem. Old problem.

Second about the memberlist, that too has already been discussed. There are oper usernames, cs admins usernames, staff usernames registered in time, which may or may not be active, but they need to stay registered so people won`t exploit that and impersonate users. So we can`t use usernames prunning. Now we tried searching for a addon which will prune inactive usernames and will create exceptions for the ones we need registered be they active or not, but we didn`t find one.

For the more the forum has over 10.000 users registered. I don`t know if you ever administrated a forum but you have to look in the memberlist see which username you want to delete, then go to the admin pannel, then do user management, type the username, tick delete click submit, go back to the memberlist to see the next username you want to delete. Try doing that operation 5000 times let`s say. You`ll go crazy.

Old problems pointed out, no new solutions. :wink:

there is a solution to the problem. well two solutions.

1. either u get a new admin to that forums.

or

2. as magic is the admin, well he could give the forums a hand every decade. dont give me stupid excuse such no time. every man has 2 minuts every while. mirc.net is neat. no need to mention perfect. means he had time for it. no one has 2 minuts for undernet's site anymore?

if the admins don't care why should the user care on keeping posting suggestions and reporting bugs and feedbacks..

Do you really expect 1 or 2 admins to start removing thousands of spam bots (fake usernames) from the forum? As sirAndrew mentioned earlier, it's not an easy job and you do get crazy, I've had this problem the way I and other members solved it was that every time a new user got registered the admins got a mail, if we noticed it was a spam bot it was removed directly, but such a thing should be done at the start of the forum not when you already have thousands of members.

The email activation won`t work here Nice|Guy, as you see the current webmasters/forum admins have a time issue, free time is not in their favour, and if they get 20 activation mails a day and they only have time to activate usernames once or twice a week, people would loose pacience untill they can actually post on the forum, and there are a few which come here with coder-com problems or Cservice problems. Not a bright thing to do on such a big forum.

I administrate a forum with +3000 users ( about 1000-1500 are bots ) but with a good registration form ( CAPTCHA and an aditional question ) and a bit of skills on managing forum / user and groups permissions i`ve brought spam down to 1-2 topics a week from 10-20 topics a day.
