Post by young-emily »

Hello,

I am banned in every channel "Serv" is in. The message says: "(Banned: [Reason #1] [Banned Nick: mike-photo8-] [Note: Global Banned ISP])". I am not mike-photo8-.
Pls help me removing that problem. Thank you.

Is this on Undernet ? You are banned from a channel, or ?

Mail or msg one of the operators on the channel?
Someone prolly has connections and might make somekind of an exception rule.

Hmmm probably not, i have no idea who owns [Serv] but if u find that out, then he can simply make an exception rule and addapt it for all channels.
If that does not help, well there's always another way.

Register at http://cservice.undernet.org/live
Once you're done with registering login with X on Undernet itsself,
after that use //mode $me +x (if u're using mirc) or /umode +x (if u use xchat or anykind of other client) and then try to join the channels.
However it will not work if the ban is still in the list, but it's an option.

If you are using arcor-ip.net seems that ISP is banned due to abuse.

Emily the only way to get unbanned is to talk with those channel operators from those channels. Ircops or other Official persons cannot remove your bans (they cannot interfere with other channels politics since Undernet it's unmoderated medium). To talk with those channel operators just use these commands on irc:
- to find a channel operator type /names #channame and look for people with an @ next to their nick.
> but attention, as a completion: if the people from that channel are +i OR if the channel it's on secret or private mode the you will get no nicknames. Also ask someone which is already in the channel to tell you the channel operators nicknames.
Regards, Lomax.

mwx,

without doubting for an instant your good intentions, your helpful reply to young-emily came in answer to a topic started on Thu Jun 09, 2005 10:42 am, and which had come to an end on Thu Jun 09, 2005 12:22 pm.

That was about 11 months ago....

The same goes for your reply to the other topic concerning the "/silence" command, some 15 months after the last post there.

Since you are neither the first nor the last person to revive dead threads maybe your post is a good opportunity to point out that a large percentage of the topics in this forum need locking up so as to avoid anyone to notice the last digit of the year 2000 in which they were made.

Not to mention that cleaning up this forum would actually make the "search" tool a lot more useful....

Otherwise someone in the year 2105 might pop up again to advise young-emily's-great-grandchild about how to solve her problem.

Of course all of us here are doing all we do on our own time, for free even, serving the greater Undernet good, terribly busy & so forth feeding our Rabbistoshis & racking up forum post points, so don't expect radical change or practical solutions any time soon.

Not to mention that it takes serious qualifications for someone to take such decisions about locking up dead topics & such, deleting spam posts along with helpful suggestions about how to stop them...
