Re: Is Undernet dead?

Wait, I complained about cservice not working for over 9 months and 3 days later it's fixed? Is this a coincidence, or did my annoying posts make someone work?

Now go ban the bots, allow Tor, add nickserv and make the admins come here more often :D

pure coincidence :)

It would still be awesome if those other problems would be fixed too to make Undernet attractive to new users again.

"Fairly soon" turned out to be quite a bit longer than originally planned but the certificate was finally approved a few days ago, so the warning should no longer appear.

Sorry, the post you are referring to was not directed at you specifically, and I'm sorry if it was read that was, it was more of a general rant, and I should have emphasised that somehow.

It might still have a lot of connected clients (I'm saying clients because I don't know the human/bot ratio), but in terms of attractiveness it's dead.

IRC has a tough time these days anyway, thanks to news mentioning it only in relation to attacks and botnets. If you read my post starting this thread, you see my reasons for saying that it's dead.

If Undernet doesn't rethink it's stance on nickservs, bot-channels, Tor and some of the other problems mentioned here it will die for good.

Yes, it is.
http://searchirc.com/ This should help you find another fun place to go.
Go to hell with your questions, my time is done here. It was fun, but this network is sooooo corrupted by morons, its not worth it.

It's not dead, it's just since the Global Financial Crisis, mums and dads have taken away the internetz from some very naughty kids, and as a result, Undernet usual users are idling away on channels :)

Indeed, you are! ;-)

And to stay on topic, Undernet is not dead.

Many people are there helping others and chatting every day.

Yes it is, compared to 4yrs ago, the user count dropped by +/- 50%

This network's dead. end of discussion

Not having as many users as 4 years ago, does not mean the network is dead.

And I am not finished with the discussion, thank you.

Nope, does not describe Undernet.

Good, let's say Undernet is not dead then.

Idiom Definitions for 'At death's door'
Meaning 1: If someone looks as if they are at death's door, they look seriously unwell and might actually be dying.
Meaning 2: If someone is at death's door, they are very ill and close to death.

You cannot say that Undernet is doing as well as it was just a few years ago.
It's getting smaller and smaller.
Together with the homemade problems this is a really bad combination.
