You are all missing the point here. Drones can be easily be found. There should always be at least an oper searching for big secret channels, someone responsible for emails sent to help the infected hosts and a few more guys that stay on the chan, looking like drones, waiting for their master to login. Then you take his ip(s) and keep him under strict observation. Maybe someone should try to hire a hitman

There is an entire group of volunteers hunting drones, but every drone has it's characteristics. It's simple to gline such creeps, but don't forget they use dynamic ip's, and you won't hurt the person who actually launched them. He doesn't give a (you know what) about his drones getting glines, he'll simply launch new ones from one of the many netblocks available.

The problem is serious. After doing a /list -min 500 mp3 i got these:
#mp3passion 1008 #mp3_collective 557 #mp3download 557 #mp3hiphop 535 . There are plenty of other channels such as these... But the idea is that these channels are NOT supposed to exist. And a IRC Operator can stop a channel like those by deoping everyone, and opying himself, devoiceing everyone and setting +m. After some actions like that, the warez part of undernet will decrease a lot! A few kills, g:line the bots ... and hey! in a few weeks, when everyone will know about it, the warez channels will not be made public, wich means that they will not have as many peopple inside, and the warez will partialy stop. Than IRC Operators can continue with the +s or +p channels, wich they can see, unlike us, the rest. this will lead, in short wile, to the vanquishing of IRC warez and lamers making their job easyer.

SHutting down channels is NOT dificult. Just infect yourself, read some packets, join the channel with its key and email all providers 
(after you got rid of their master).
Or you could hexedit some sources, maybe unpack a self extracting mirc (gtbot). And your drone-hunting team sucks. They stay a few days on the channel, then leave. Or something like that. I have even seen them using drones.

Well drones are a never ending story on irc they are easly found, i think
but , other users canot do anything about them, the ip can easyly be found from the sender, it is not that hard really, there should be a drone hunting day for the opers i think that would be some fun to see, and would get rid of most warez and all on Undernet, we need users not bots or other, but only my thinking, we have talked to opers but they said they need more proof, so we have stoped. it does not hurt us at all for there to be drones, we just try to stop all the lammers on the net from bothering others, but did not work anyways laters all. happy chatting

Dude, you may think that you discovered the perfect fix for cleaning drones off Undernet, but this is already being done for years! There is a small group of people - developers, security specialists, programmers, IRC operators - who dedicate their spare time to identifying new IRC drones and closing them down. I've reported a couple drone channels in the past and they were very prompt at locking down the secret channels and even writing an automatic disinfection script (using the backdoor itself ). They don't like publicity, though, otherwise people would be bothering them all day long with "hy sum1 is hakcng me plz help 10x". If you find such a "master" channel (also called a "nest"), please report it to one of the help channels' senior operators, they'll take it from there. #zt would be a good start, or #irchelp #mirc #mirchelp #help #report-abuse #arlington - in random order.

What I wanna say is that they can't stop certain type of drones because they can't be stopped. That team is ALMOST useless... opers should verify 100+ secret and key protected channels more often, that's all. They also check their trafic

I had a 'nest' of my own in the past (when I was STUPID. I'm not glad at all to say it.) It gave me a lot of experience. I had a few channels closed by that team. At that time it was #dmsetup.
