Option for Usernames

Post by GeStaPo »

If somebody fight with much people and now he know that he is not right and want start everything over again witouht mistakes, let inform some CS Admin and ask for deleting him user to be released him ISP Mail for other username !?! In that case many people who made that kinnda mistakes must to wait 60+ days and that is long time and they made other username with non ISP Mail, and that is abuse because he will have 2 usernames, he will be with last one logged till waiting to 60+ days to deleting him user and release him ISP Mail !!! In that case he no need to made other username with web mail who is not ISP Mail !?!

Personally i didn't understood anything from what you've wrote in this thread, but i'll try to clear up your mind, well if he'd like to change his username e-mail address registered on his username, he could use the forms from web interface in case the isp e-mail is not valid anymore the owner of that username has to fill up a form and to send the e-mail at X@undernet.org. and also if in case he tries to register a username and he typed mistakenly his username e-mail address, he could simply wait 24 hours and to re-register that username again, usernames are NOT on X's data base, unless the owner of whom applied for it, would confirm the confirmation link which is sent on the e-mail gave it when he applied for the username which wanted to register. so what you said there, the part with 60+ days, it's useless since usernames are not registered as in being on X's database if the owner of it doesn't confirm the confirmation link.

in plain terms, he's saying that if someone gets bored of his user, he wants a way to delete it, so he can register a new user evading the 60+ days required for the old one to expire. As far as i know users can't be deleted directly, and would probably require a new code or something like that. Dunno, ain't no expert..a coder's answer would be best

Well, coding it is pretty simple and that's not the issue. Does anyone want this at all ? I don't.

gestapo,

I'm sorry but this wont happen, It states in the AUP when registering to choose your username carefully because you will not be able to change it.

The only valid use for such a feature would be to evade bans in channels.

Usernames must not be confused with Nicknames, Nicknames can be changed anytime, Usernames are not designed or intended to ever be changed.

gestapo,

I know your past well enough to know you have tried this already for this reason, and obviously it didn't work. Changing usernames does not solve reputation issues.

...especially when you start telling everyone who you are, but still hoping to remain hidden.

Take my advice,
Go on with it.
