Regrading what Lion-O said, either that way the servers won't be protected. And Undernet DOES protect the users with the +x mode already. But unfortunatelly the servers are not protected. So what will happen that way, if auto hidding is made and will be NOT if you ask me. The amount of ddos will be...

First of all, netsplit doesnt change anything to your hidden host. Once you logged in to X and set +x, your hidden host stay untill you disconnect, no matter if server or X split. True. However, I doubt that people will happily remain on a server once its splitted from the rest of the network. But;...

Right, lets go into a little further detail then.. At this moment everyone is uncloaked after connecting, the moment they logon to X (which sets an authentication flag, unseen by the user) the ircd will cloak their hostname as soon as they turn on usermode +x (/mode <yournick> +x). My suggestion is ...

ok but did you have in mind the ban problem? how will you ban individual if everyone has the same host? and don't tell me you'll ban the nick or identd... because than can be easyly changed for evading bans... I fail to see the difference between the current situation and this one. At this moment t...

Well, the silence is telling something. I guess people don't want this discussed anymore. However, having suffered from 20+ netsplits in one day (I am aware of the different ircu versions being used on the network but really; if you put the blame for the increasing splits on that you're insulting ir...

Best ways to prevent it from happening with regards to undernet would be making sure you're always logged into X and turn on usermode x (/mode <yournick> +x). Something which is getting harder with the day with all the netsplits going about. The second, but this only applies when you set your hidden...

Ok, here is a suggestion... Try to give out a little more information and insight as to what is going on right now. I am sure that this will end a - lot - of 'whining'. So far all I can see of this 'whining' isn't so much about telling coders / opers / etc. that they're doing it all wrong. Its more ...

I don't want to discuss on this subject bu,t I feel the need to say this: if you don't know anything and you just hear voices, then don't talk ! One of the reasons people talk and pick up rumours is the lack of information given through official channels. Add to that the experiences which everyone ...

Earlier this year there were quite a lot of opers being dismissed, some of them because the server they resided on was taken offline, others for completely other reasons. So far the only reason / rumour which I've heard was that one of the reasons to remove these opers was because of their anti-kidd...

I just find it funny that you're using the same forum as the #linux channel ;). Still, I miss a logo in the upperleft corner 8)

The forum & the site..

Hi guys, The forum looks nice but I think you guys should really put in an UnderNet logo instead of removing the PHPBB logo. This is quite a funny situation, not too long ago the #linux channel has also fired up an official channel forum and guess what we use? Anyway, the site has looked good for qu...
