First of all try to avoid going for the long or difficult words, try the small convenient words and once you are comfortable with them go for the big ones.
Read newspapers and Reader's Digest, when u do not understand a word look it up in the dictionary and try speaking in English with your friends and family. All the best, I'm sure that you can do it.

Some tips in how to improve your spoken English: 1. Be patient with yourself. Learning any language can be frustrating, but frustration won't help you, so let it go. 2. Talk to friends who are also learning English. Go out together for coffee and only speak English to each other! 3. Read short stories out loud and try to see, say and hear the words to reinforce your memory. Record yourself and play it back later. 4. Try singing along to English songs. With friends or in the privacy of your own bathroom. 5. Don't get too hung up on trying to sound like a native speaker. Would you start learning the piano in an attempt to sound like Mozart? Probably not. Accents don't matter, as long as people can understand you, but pronunciation is important. 6. Don't worry about sounding like a native, it is more important to speak clearly and pleasantly than it is to sound like the Queen of England. 7. The most important thing to think about is can people understand you? If you have a problem being understood then find someone who speaks English clearly and try to copy the way they speak. 8. Watch English movies with English subtitles on. This has many advantages. You will be able to compare the written words to the correct pronunciations. You will get a feel of how real English sentences are formed when speaking. 9. Imagine that you're introducing yourself to a new acquaintance, and say something about yourself. This can help build up your confidence in speaking the language. Then try practicing with a friend. Spend a day just talking in English, so you can get the hang of it. 10. To help you with your English, you could get your self a English learning kit OR English learning software like "Cafe English".Good Luck !

I keep on having these dreams about the internet or somebody within it creating a global language. I think it is going to happen within our lifetime, and I have been doing some tests with video to see what might be possible. For instance, there is some DVD burning software that I am trying to program to automatically translate subtitle languages. We will see how it goes, I just know that there will soon be a day of global communication.

The best way is to just speak with native English speakers. The more you do that the better you will get. My girlfriend is from the Philippines and her English has improved dramatically since we started dating.

Try to avoid using idioms and slang (I always say learn it, but don't use it). It might sound clever to say "You're barking up the wrong tree," but if you use it in the wrong situation, or if the other person simply doesn't understand you, you'll only look silly when you try to explain what you meant to say, or what it actually means.

Never be shy. Speak as much as you can and make as many mistakes as you can. Learn from them. And always be confident.

Read books in english, use google to translate and learn words you don't know. For me it's also helpful to memorize some paragraphs.
