Hello Everyone...

I have been on undernet for 6+ years and it is starting to get to me that it seems that too many jerks in certain channels are getting away with being sexist racist demeaning cruel pigs.

I am an op in #bipolar1 and am a year long faithful to #depression.

I currently have 6 stalkers online. I have been forced to change nicks, to log everything and hide too many times now and I think that these people need to be removed from undernet.

It is in the mtod that "undernet is a priviledge not a right" and some people have definately crossed that line and deserve to be g-lined from undernet.

What can be done regarding this? :(

if they are on a channel you can gain +@ (op) status in , then just ban them.

if not, you might consult with the ops (ppl with op status) from that channel and see if they agree with them irc-ing in there ( they might have some channel rules to protect their users against sexist, racist ppl )

also, you might want to take a look at http://www.undernet.org/forum/viewtopic ... 9e9be3d0c7 and read other user`s opinions about "Racism on Undernet".

yes i am well aware of undernet policy and how to go about getting someone banned from the channel....that isnt my issue...i get /query 's of death threats and text guns FOR getting ppl banned even...but certain ppl who do chose to partake in such things should get their priviledges to irc on undernet revoked.

thank you for the response nonetheless

You can either ignore all off them and go about your own business. I have personally been stalked and threatened, but hey, it's just words, don't take it seriously.
Or you could build a completely new identity for yourself. Change nick, change ident, change Full Name, change username. Tell only YOUR FRIENDS about this change, let others just think you faded away.
If they are also doing something illegal other than stalking, which in most cases they do, like spamming or flooding or whatever, report that to Undernet opers, or even to their ISPs.
I agree it is annoying, it is boring, it may get to you, but it shouldn't.
Regards

If you are stalked, offended and completely harassed by other users, you can try to contact IRC Operators about this. They should be able to do something. As far as I am aware, harassing is against Undernet rules and regulations. Therefore the IRC Operators would be more than happy to help you, right?

Man the number of times I have recieved death threats, and abuse on IRC. Its uncountable. I have been dossed, flooded and all sorts of attempts to send me viruses. Im a Pakistani, and I live in Switzerland and I make a trip to Pakistan a few times a year. People hate me because I dont get taunted or scared by threats that I am gonna kill you. It takes a lot of balls to do something of that scale. So who ever is threatning you, tell them that you are their real dad, and the reason why u left them was because mom was a hoe. Keep your stance and do not let your gaurd down. Constant abuse towards them and regular bans on them does the trick. They eventually give up.

On IRC people talk a lot of hello and make themselves sound like tupacs lil homie. In reality your probably talkin to a 16 year old who has viewed all the gay pornsites and is soo bored that he thinks its funny stalking. The more you react to it the more they will do it. So best is whenever you see em, ignore em and or ban them. Lifes too short to worry over a lamer, (Life is the longest thing) but neways.

There needs to be some way of regulating and dealing with people who don't want to conform to the rules of Undernet.

Chanell #NZ is kicking and banning people for no reason and they think that nothing can be done about their channel. They are above it all for any rules.

So what can be done? Can the channel be regulated or shut down?

Thanks

Here is an excerpt from the Cservice Channel FAQ --
Quote:
Question 4.3:I was kicked/banned from a channel with X /on it for no reason, who can I complain to? The CSC has no reponsibility for, nor say over how a manager, and those he gives operator status to, choose to run the channel. A channel operator can kick and/or ban someone for any reason they choose, or no reason at all. Therefore there is no one that you can complain to about this except the people who run that specific channel (the manager).

Well its really a drag that there is nothing that can be done to channel's who operators can't follow simple decent rules, and like to harass and kick ppl who just want to check out the room.

Just goes to show why people are leaving the undernet and IRC and choosing to use other programs to avoid some of the garbage.

:x

There are 39631 users and 60022 invisible on 35 servers
85 operator(s) online
160 unknown connection(s)
46294 channels formed

Would you prefer the 100-strong operators of Undernet make sure every single of those 46,000+ channels is being run according to how you think they should be run? IRC channels on any network have the same hierarchy of power - that's because in the end, it's the best structure. The beauty of IRC is that if you don't like how one channel is run, you're free to start another and woo enough people (politely) into it until you become an equal to the channel you feel is managed badly.

Take a trip back into reality and think about what you're saying before you post.

We are kinda getting off topic, don't we ? Since the issues described here are present in other topics as well, lets put this thread out of it's misery :)
